The Jolly Hog sausages and bacon are made with British Outdoor Bred pork. Free Range, Outdoor Reared and Outdoor Bred are all slightly different methods of rearing pigs. Outdoor bred pigs spend the beginning of their lives outside, then they are weaned and brought inside to airy, straw bedded barns. We ensure that all of our pigs are reared according to RSPCA Assured guidelines to keep standards of quality high.

What does RSPCA Assured mean?
As well as outdoor bred, we only source our meat from RSPCA Assured farms. This scheme means we can be confident of the skill and ability of the farmers, as well as the respect for the animals. On RSPCA Assured farms, the use of farrowing crates is strictly prohibited. This is a major concern for the RSPCA and something which will never be permitted on RSPCA Assured farms where our RSPCA Assured sausages and bacon comes from.
