Bacon loaded French toast crumpets

If you’re looking for the perfect brunch recipe that takes very little effort but tastes seriously good, we’ve got just the one for you. This is a spin on the classic French toast recipe but using crumpets instead, which are loaded with our extra thick cut black treacle bacon. So, so, tasty.

Ingredients

  • The Jolly Hog Black Treacle Bacon
  • 4 crumpets
  • 2 eggs
  • 50ml milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons of icing sugar
  • Maple or golden syrup, to serve

Method

  1. Cook The Jolly Hog Black Treacle Bacon according to pack instructions
  2. Meanwhile, beat the eggs, milk, sugar and spices together in a bowl
  3. Add the crumpets to the egg mixture and leave to soak for a minute
  4. Melt the butter in a frying pan and once hot, add the crumpets. Fry for 4-5 minutes, flipping half way until the crumpets and golden and crisp
  5. Remove from the pan, top with the thick cut bacon and drizzle with syrup. Tuck in and enjoy!
