Summer Pesto Hot Dog

This hot dog recipe combines our Smokey Dogs (made with smoked sea salt for the ultimate hot dog sausage) with spicy nduja mayo, our tender slow cooked British pulled pork and herby homemade pesto. If you’re looking for hot dog recipes, this is one you need to add to your list! Full of flavour and packed with freshnes, we loved it so much we even put it on our restaurant menu!

Ingredients

For the Smokey Dogs
  • x4 finger rolls
  • 1 pack of The Jolly Hog Smokey Dogs
  • 1 pack of The Jolly Hog British Pulled Pork
  • A handful of chopped spring onions
For the Homemade Pesto & 'Nduja Mayo
  • 1 bunch of basil
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 40g grated parmesan
  • A handful of toasted pumpkin seeds
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp 'nduja

Method

  1. Start by cooking the British pulled pork according to pack instructions.
  2. Whilst that’s cooking, make your homemade pesto recipe for your hot dog sauce. Combine the pesto ingredients in a processor. Season to taste and adjust to your liking.
  3. To make the nduja mayo. Pan fry the nduja to release the spicy juices, and then mix with mayo and smoked paprika. Again, season to taste.
  4. Place the Smokey Dogs on the BBQ or under the grill, and cook according to pack instructions.
  5. Load your bun with the Smokey Dog, then the pulled pork and then the pesto and nduja mayo. Sprinkle with chopped spring onions.
